Since I was a boy I have been told that I was a leader. I've felt the weight of parents who had high expectations for me. I still have a grade report from my third grade teacher who wrote that I wasn't working to my potential-third grade! I've been chosen to lead small groups by peers in classrooms, volunteer organizations and in the work place. I'm intelligent, articulate and passionate. My resume is full of leadership accomplishments. In all that time I was uncomfortable thinking of myself as a leader. Perhaps that is true for you, too.
It's my belief that great leaders find a way to take what is in their hearts and souls and translate that into a vision. The leader says where we are going; the manager makes it happen. Most leaders are not aware of the heart/soul connection. I wasn't. As a result, many times we become 'tyrant' leaders by relying solely on their heads to 'set the course'. I did this many times. When this happens, leaders are attacked. Those being lead react to the tyranny and find ways to replace or sabotage the leader. Sometimes they just leave. People will not long tolerate a leader who only has his interests in mind. Other women and men see this happening and conclude: "Why would I want to be a leader if this is what happens to them?" That was certainly true for me. The more I saw leaders being attacked the less I wanted to be seen as one.
Our workshops offer men and women with leadership qualities a chance to look into their hearts and souls. More importantly, though, we ask our participants to look for their "Embedded Leader", and what holds them back from being magnificent. Our approach is direct and confrontational. It is always compassionate. We will not judge your choices nor your path.
There is no 'answer' for you in any of our workshops, intensives, or coaching sessions. We don't have something to give you. Almost everyone in your life has sold you short, let you off-the-hook, and encouraged you to settle for less than your best. Gleb and I will not do that. All of the answers are already inside you.
